Huge thanks for all that came out for October Martini Club! We doubled our turnout from last year, and more importantly, we have A NEW CO-BARKEEP.
That's right.
I tried to shed the responsibility of tending to the site, but overwhelming feedback suggested I should stick with it another year. Surprised me, because I genuinely felt I was doing a piss poor job of promoting the Martini Club events.
I guess you people just don't learn. Pffffft.
Anyway, please welcome our new Co-Barkeep, Tammy. Sh…

Where would we like to see the 1 year anniversary Martini Club this year? I see that
Hyde Park Grille (Upper Arlington location) is an interesting choice as they have (reportedly) $4 Martinis between 4:30 and 6:30 pm.
Would our founding members be interested in dinner for the anniversary event? Less fancy, more fancy?
Other interesting candidates:…

My friend JennyMac posted the following recipe on her blog
Let's Have a Cocktail http://letshaveacocktail.blogspot.com/ and I thought ya'll might like it:
JennyMac's POM-oh-come-to-Mama-tini
Fill your shaker with ice.
Take your martini glass and draw a circle just below the inside rim with chocolate syrup.
Into your shaker pour:
2/3 POMx Iced Coffee (I used vanilla)
1/3 vodka
1/3 Lady Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
Shake it like a poloroid picture.
Pour. Sip. Enjoy. Repeat.…

"It's a little too grown-upy."
— Said by Olivia, age 5, in response to the evening's venue.
What's significant about this is not that my five-year-old was at martini night. It's that my five-year-old represented fully one-third of all attendees for the evening.
Tinis... I don't think I need to tell you how disappointing this is.
If this dreadful attendance continues, our next martini night will no doubt take place at Chuck E. Cheese.
Stay the course!

For those of you I left sitting at the Grandview Cafe on Friday night, my apologies.
Although I'd left to use the restroom with every intention of returning to the patio, I clearly did not make it back.
I'd entered the restroom late that evening, turned the corner, and saw a really messed up guy standing there looking stupid. "Drunk frakker," I thought to myself.
Of course I'd been looking into a mirror.
Somewhere between the beer, the martinis, and the scotch I found my way -- my course --…

I gotta admit, I was very impressed with the relative level of civility shown by every member of da club. I was also thrilled to see such a friggin awesome turn out.
However, I just wanted to take a moment to wish Beth (also known as Rocket or Red or Curly Sue) all the best that I have on the next phase of life. I'll miss you, my dear. It's difficult for me to realize I won't have family in the same town anymore. :(
As for the rest of you: I'm changing up a few rules for ratification. I don't…

Considering that July's Martini Club meeting boasted the best turnout in our short history; and further considering that this event was by far the drunkest event thus far (at least as far as I can remember), I propose we make a change to the Martini Club rules, specifically Rule #6.
The term "Stay Classy" is a rather cruel and indefensible one if you consider that this is a club of would-be booze drinkers. I'm not completely against staying classy, I just find it unlikely after a few martinis.…

Folks -- I'd like to invite you to contribute thoughts, posts, scribbles, rants, raves, commentary, punditizing, or just whatever you'd like to see on to the Martini Club site.
For example, we're really big on "stuff taken out of context". This could be conversation fragments (think "Overheard in New York" [just google it]), for example. OR you could contribute quotes of the night. I see too many of my own posts here, and I bore myself sometimes.
So please! Add whatever you like. Maybe you kno…

Sweet Cbus, don't tell me you're not coming out to Martini Club because of the Swine Flu. I assure you, Eric's bark is much worse than his bite, and survivability rates are actually quite high if you come within contact of him.
Besides, Martinis are booze. Booze is composed of alcohol. Alcohol KILLS GERMS. So does Purell, but I don't recommend drinking it.
So don't hand me no pantywaist weaksauce excuse that you can't come out because of the Swine flu.
This has been your daily PSA.

We have nearly 40 members to The Martini Club! That's counting our Floridian division AND our Canadian nationals! I can't wait for this month's CMH Martini Club night at Columbus Fish Market -- As I understand it, they have complementary appetizers if you buy drinks.
That is completely full of WIN.
